The culminating event for Special Olympics spring sports is the championship state meet at Towson University. Athletes can participate as commuters (drive to Towson for day and nighttime events) or stay in the dorms with the team (and chaperones) for the weekend (note that space in the dorms is not guaranteed as each county is provided a limited amount of space). Those athletes staying for the weekend can take a bus and should be at Ruth Parker Eason school (648 Old Mill Rd, Millersville, MD 21108) no later than 8:30 am on Friday, June 23 for check-in. DO NOT PARK IN THE PARKING SPACES at Ruth Eason - park in the field to drop-off athletes, and do not leave your car as the field will be locked until Monday. Athletes not taking the bus but staying in the dorms should plan to arrive at Residence Tower (see map below) sometime before 4pm. Contact one of the coaches when you arrive and we will meet your athlete for check-in. There will be no bus on Sunday, parents/guardians must transport their athlete home.
Brief description of events for the weekend: Upon arrival at Towson on Friday morning, the athletes will check-in with coaches and have lunch provided by SOAA (NOTE: Friday swimmers must bring their own lunches). Opening Ceremonies are Friday evening, 7:00pm at SECU/Towson Tigers Arena and day athletes and their families are encouraged to attend. Day athletes should meet the delegation at the Block Party before the Opening Ceremonies on Friday at 6:30 pm in SECU Lot 7. Text one of the coaches if you aren't able to locate the team.
